Visionary device puts life into focus

I can’t even begin to explain how genuinely excited I was the morning I woke knowing that in just a few short hours I would be blessed with the opportunity to try a new piece of adaptive technology created by my friends at Samsung. Alongside the excitement were some notable nerves. IrisVision has had some amazing reviews and with my eye disease currently incurable it’s rare I tempt myself with the thought that one day I could experience full sight. I often pinch myself at how fortunate I am to be born in this era, this tech age where adaptive technology is truly transforming independence and the quality of life for people who are blind or have low vision. So, yes you can understand my excitement for this day.

IrisVision has been designed to utilise smart phone and virtual reality technology to allow a user to see through their central vision, the area of my sight that is very poor. So what happened? How did I react when I got to try IrisVision?

Thank you Samsung for the opportunity and keep up the great work. Your developments are life changing.

Watch the video below to see the moment where I got to see life in detail I hadn’t for decades...

Samsung: Re-imagine

Paralympian medallist Jessica Gallagher represents Australia internationally in alpine skiing, track and field athletics and tandem cycling despite the challenge of being legally blind.

Watch the video below to see what happens when she tries IrisVision, a wearable device powered by Samsung’s smartphones and virtual reality technology to help improve the lives of those with low vision.

IrisVision uses powerful magnification to help restore independence by assisting clients with tasks from reading and writing to maintaining personal care or observing those beautiful moments in life.
