Each year to celebrate International Day for People with a Disability the Maribyrnong City Council hold the MIRA awards, recognising those in our local community who have made a difference for people with a disabilities in areas as diverse as arts, business, volunteering, youth, sports and recreation fields. They acknowledge individuals, clubs, groups, businesses and not-for-profit organisations that have contributed to improving the quality of life of people with disability in the City of Maribyrnong.
I was honoured to win the ‘Sports and Recreation Individual award’ and would like to congratulate all my fellow nominees and award winners, it was a beautiful evening at the local town hall celebrating some of the incredible inclusive action people are taking to make our community a better place for all.
