Woolies Olympics and Paralympics Collectable Program

It’s a real delight for me to be a part of the Woolworths Paralympics and Olympics Collectable Sticker program. It’s a wonderful moment of reflection personally for me to look back and remember the times when Paralympic athletes had no visibility in the media. On my diagnosis as a 17 year old I had never heard of the Paralympics despite being heavily involved in sport in the junior elite pathways for both Netball and Basketball.

So many of our trailblazing Para athletes in years past have forged the way for today’s Paralympians and I’m certain that if a campaign like this existed back then it wouldn’t have taken 5 years for me to discover that as a person with a disability there was in fact opportunity to be an elite athlete and represent my country. It fills me with pride knowing that kids with (and without) disabilities can now see Paralympians in the main stream media on an equal footing with our Olympic peers.

It’s also safe to say that I never could have imagined that one day I’d be a collectable sticker! Woolworth’s has partnered with 68 past and present Paralympic and Olympic athletes aiming to engage, inspire and educate a new generation of sports participants and fans.
