Apeldoorn, Netherlands were the host of the 2019 UCI Para Cycling Track World Championships and what an event they put on! Now the weather certainly didn’t play it’s part (it pretty much rained and was grey the ENTIRE time) but the Dutch certainly love their cycling and they were out in their droves to support the home team and the World’s best Para-Cylists.
The Australian Cycling Team had an incredibly successful campaign with 9 gold and 17 medals over the 4 days of competition. Maddie and I won silver in the tandem match sprint after some tough battles versus the Dutch in the semi final round before being defeated by Great Britain in the Gold medal round. In the 1km Time Trial we placed 4th.
